Announcing the General Availability of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016

Today Microsoft has announced the general availability of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016, a milestone release of Microsoft’s business management solution for small and midsized organizations. Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 offers significant new capabilities in mobility, business insight, and cloud services, as well as deeper interoperability with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Office 365.

The world has become digital and businesses of all sizes are looking at how best to transform their organizations – to create greater efficiencies and streamlined business processes, to empower workers with insights anywhere and on any device, and to scale and grow securely through the power of the cloud.

New capabilities in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 will help SMBs:

How to show more than 999+ in RTC Cue

Issue: If we have more than 999 Sales Orders – Open then the RTC cue will show 999+ instead of exact number.

Solution:

1. Go to particular activities page. (SO Processor Activities in my case)

2. Select the field which is having issue (<Sales Orders - Open>)

3. Click Properties from View or shortcut Shift + F4

4. Select property Image

5. Now it is set to <Stack>

6. Change it to None

7. Save the page and restart the RTC

The Temp Windows Login already exists error while upgrading

Error: The following error may occur while running Form 104001 (Upgrade - Old version) in the process of upgrading from NAV2009 to NAV2013/2015.

The Temp Windows Login already exists.

Problem Statement: If users from other domain exist in windows login table with SID and not on Active directory then the above error will raise.

Generally it happens when we copy customer database to local environment (not in customer domain) and try to upgrade.

Solution: Delete all those out of domain users with SID.

How to Add Dynamics NAV Tile to the O365 App Launcher

We can add our own tiles to O365 app launcher with Admin rights.

Browse to Admin dashboard by clicking on Admin tile on app launcher.

Choose the ‘Company Profile’ on left menu.

Select ‘Custom Tiles’ from the left menu.

The ‘Custom Tiles’ page looks like below.

Click on ‘Plus’ sign to create a new tile.

We need to also provide the logo for the Tile.

So we need to upload the logo first. We can upload to One Drive and select the full path name and paste in tile Info.

We can also change/remove the tile later on same Custom Tiles page.

Now go to My Apps page on App Launcher.

You can find newly created tile here.

Now click on pin it the App Launcher.

Now we can see the new tile in the App Launcher.

When you click on the NAV Tile then it will directly open the Web client.

GAC provides first Dynamics NAV 2016 implementation in the Netherlands

On August 1st 2015 GAC Business Solutions has gone live with the first implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 in the Netherlands. Honeywell Customized Comfort Products upgraded from Microsoft Dynamics 5.0 to the latest version of the ERP solution. Honeywell Customized Comfort Products is the second company in the world to use Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016.

Early transition through TAP
Alex Bouwmeester, project manager for GAC: “We were initially planning to make a transition to Dynamics NAV 2013 R2. Because GAC is a participant in Microsoft’s Technology Adoption Program we could offer more. Thanks to TAP we could offer Honeywell Customized Comfort Products the opportunity to be one of the first companies in the world to use Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016.”

Technology Adoption Program
Microsoft offers the Technology Adoption Program (TAP) to select partners. Their customers are given early access to new software and can participate in its development. Thanks to their participation in TAP GAC was previously tone the first company in the world to implement Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015.

Honeywell Customized Comfort Products
Honeywell Customized Comfort Products is part of Honeywell International. The division has sites at thirteen locations in the Netherlands. Honeywell Customized Comfort Products develops innovative systems, products and services for domestic use. Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 gives Honeywell Customized Comfort Products access to new functionality and opens up new possibilities to promote the New World of Work (NWOW) approach to workers.

Switch to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016
Honeywell Comfort Products wanted to upgrade software support for the company processes with higher performance and a web based environment. The first choice was Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013R2. Participating in TAP allowed Honeywell Comfort Products to get the expanded functionality of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 and allowed for a longer term investment in new ERP software.
